The Lotus (莲花 Lián huā) is famed for its beauty in Chinese Culture, it has a reputation for growing from mud and emerging pure and unsullied from its surroundings, untouched by the dirt from whence it came. It was imported from India into China 1,300 years ago, and has been long referenced in Chinese art, stories and music.

These pretty battered brass lotus flower earrings have been made exclusively for the Manchester Museum by Just Trade.

Just Trade works in partnership with small fair-trade projects across the world. These projects offer life changing training, secure work opportunities and fairly paid employment for marginalised people.
