Manchester Museum’s South Asia Gallery presents a compelling, contemporary take on South Asian and British Asian history and culture, celebrating the experiences and contribution of the South Asian diaspora. The gallery is a landmark partnership with the British Museum and has been co-curated with an inspiring group of community leaders, educators, artists, historians, journalists, scientists, musicians, students, and more from Manchester’s South Asian community.

This tile captures the unique spirit of collaboration and multilingual design by including the eight different languages represented in the South Asia Gallery. The tile also captures the vibrancy and dynamic nature of the performance space at the heart of the gallery. There is remarkable power in bringing lived experience, collections and performance together.

Each Tile is designed in Manchester by The Sculpts. The tiles are screen printed and hand-rolled in Stoke-on-Trent, before being fired in Manchester-local kilns.
