Manchester Museum is world renowned for its amphibian conservation work and the large collection of live tropical frogs maintained within its Vivarium. The Vivarium is particularly notable for its rare Central American frogs and the museum has been responsible for establishing important captive breeding programmes for some of the most critically endangered species. 

This enamel pin badge of Sylvia's Tree Frog, Cruziohyla sylviae which was identified as a new species after 20 years of painstaking research at The University of Manchester.
